After searching for this quote I found the original which can be attributed to John Adams. It is pretty different although I still like it. “I must study politics and war that my sons may have liberty to study mathematics and philosophy. I'm currently writing my personal statement for university to study International Politics and I'm planning to open with a quote from a political scholar.
