For those that are interested, Player Piano is Vonnegut's (author of Slaughterhouse-Five, Sirens of Titan, Cat's Cradle, etc.) first published book, and it is set in a society of the future where all menial labor has been replaced by machines, and the upper class is largely composed of the engineers that maintain and build the machines, leaving the rest of society to feel practically worthless despite their healthy standard of living. If you're a fan of books like 1984, Brave New World, or even Vonnegut in general, I'd recommend checking it out.
