I used to love this quote growing up, because I thought it meant my introvert nature automatically equated into having high intelligence.
Now that I am older, I think understand it better. As humans it's our default setting to believe we are smarter than the average person–the gut sitting across from us, the lady we pass on the street, or the family next door.
Brown wasn't telling us to be smart, because we already believe we are smart. He's just telling us to simply: Shut Up. Which is in and of itself, a very good piece of advice.
