The quote is attributed to Christopher Hitchens on many websites but none cite a source. Can you help me with a source? Thank you in advance.
Heard this chilling quote when interviewing some of the first black soldiers in the US military branches during WW II.
EDIT: This quote isn't meant to compare the experience or to remove the horrors from the Holocaust but to show that while the Americans were trying to figure out how to treat a man who treated another race so poorly, they treated another race poorly as well. This quote is more than Hitler or the Holocaust, its about pointing out the civil inequality in America….
“The religion of one age is the literary entertainment of the next.” -Ralph Waldo Emerson
This is a fantastic quote in my opinion, throwing our major political issues(mostly the US issues) into perspective.
On racial equality, specifically in the context of finalizing desegregation in the US military at the behest of some administrators in the US Navy. Applicable, though, in other contexts.
“… In the name of fighting terrorism the US constitutional system is near to being overthrown.”
